Louisa qualified with a Masters in Physiotherapy from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2011 but prior to that gained a Masters in sports medicine where she worked in the sport and exercise field with leading businessmen, Formula 1 drivers and teams, and club and elite level athletes in rowing and triathlon.

Since qualifying as a physio, Louisa has worked in private practice with a variety of individuals from those looking to overcome injury, accidents and surgery and improve general day to day function, to athletes of all standards who want to prevent and heal from injury and maximise performance. She has specifically worked in triathlon from elite to club level and with world class coaches, providing manual physiotherapy alongside drills and skills sessions, work on movement patterns and giving specific rehabilitation and prehabilitation exercises to prevent injury, thus enabling performance.  She loves working with athletes at all levels helping them train, move and live better to enhance their performance and achieve goals.

Louisa works in a very holistic way, looking at the whole body, placing high priority in identifying and correcting movement patterns caused by injury/trauma and habits to aid recovery and prevent future problems. She understands how trauma, and the emotional and psychological impact of this, has on pain, movement, injury, inflammation and rehabilitation.

Louisa has a special interest in the nervous system and autonomic nervous system dysfunction and how the effects of chronic stress, trauma, especially head and brain injury, pathology and most interestingly, COVID has on these. These can all increase inflammation, delay healing, alter immunity and promote ill health and disease. She uses a variety of musculoskeletal manual therapy techniques, in addition to cranial and visceral manipulation. She also does autonomic nervous system and vagus nerve work in combination with specific rehabilitation exercises and where appropriate, ventral vagus strengthening work to complement and enhance her treatment. This enables the client to take control of their own issues, feel empowered and live a well life again. She is also qualified in clinical yoga and incorporates this into her treatments, and she teaches a class every week online.

Louisa, in her past life, was a professional triathlete representing Great Britain in long course and ironman distances but due to a serious accident, her career ended there. However, she later retrained as a physiotherapist, which she loves, and due to her history, has a special interest in head and brain trauma. This is now her focus, helping others heal from trauma, illness and injury, managing pain and chronic conditions, enabling them to live life to the full. She is passionate about what she does, enjoys a challenge and will work hard to get you where you want to be, like everyone at the clinic.

Louisa in her free time enjoys hill and mountain walks/shuffles with her dog, yoga and other movement-based practices. She also has a keen interest in how diet, breathing and lack of movement impacts health and healing and loves concocting real, alkalising and healing foods with a special interest in natural energy food, ayurveda and intuitive eating but still loves a good coffee and dark raw chocolate.

PATIENT TESTIMONIALS
Over the years I have worked with a number of the physios at CSPC, I have found them to be up to date with their thinking and treatments, willing to share their knowledge with one and other and clients. I always recommend CSPC to friends and clients. They have helped hold body and soul together, thank you.

I am absolutely delighted with the shockwave treatment I have received at CSPC physiotherapy Clinic and the results it has produced. Each session has measurably reduced the size of my bursitis to the point it has almost gone, with corresponding improvement in my range of movement and comfort in the affected area. It has also ameliorated calcification in my shoulder. A great big thank you to Alison and Julianna for your help!

I cannot believe how well I feel. Four years ago, I felt consigned to the ‘rust pile’, today I feel ‘shiny’ and ready for the next challenge. CSPC can seriously alter your way of life …for the better.

Within the one hour appointment I received hands on treatment that relieved most of my pain and by the evening I was breathing and moving pain free. By the following morning I was back to ‘full dad duties’ much to the surprise of my partner, who with seeing how quickly I had recovered, started to think I’d made it all up to have a good rest!

After a long car journey to Leeds, I arrived with some discomfort in my upper back that worsened over the next day to the point that I could hardly breathe or move without feeling excruciating pain.

I’d done a gym session a week or so previously and had felt some discomfort in my back but rested and thought nothing of it. A long car journey combined with caring for two young children resulted in me having excruciating back pain and if it wasn’t for getting an emergency appointment at CSPC physiotherapy clinic I would not have made it home and probably checked myself into A&E!

Thanks CSPC physiotherapy for getting me back to my best – super quickly!
