Carl qualified as a physiotherapist from the University of Teesside in 2009 and since then has gained experience of working in professional sport, the NHS and private practice. This has allowed Carl to develop his clinical skills and knowledge to provide the most effective assessment, treatment and prevention strategies.
Carl’s interest area is with lower limb injuries (hip, knee, ankle) with a particular interest in the sporting athlete. This has provided him the opportunity to work with professional athletes including professional boxer Jermaine ‘Showtime’ Springer. Additionally, he has experience of working in semi-professional football with non-league Thackley AFC and in 2018 began working as Head of Physiotherapy for the Yorkshire International Football Team.
Carl also currently works within the NHS as a Specialist Physiotherapist and works closely with a number oforthopaedic surgeons and consultants who specialise in sports and exercise medicine. He has experience of working in a variety of specialist areas treating both acute and chronic injuries. Carl has recently completed a postgraduate Masters degree specialising in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and as part of this completed a primary research project that highlighted the importance of early accurate diagnosis of anterior cruciate ligament injury which is due to be published. Additional qualifications include acupuncture (AACP), kinesiology taping, manual therapy and pilates (APPI).
In his spare time Carl enjoys playing football, running, gym, spending time entertaining his kids and previously represented Middlesbrough in the national league as a futsal player.
